The safety of our NAU family is our highest priority. We understand how concerning the coronavirus outbreak is, but we want to assure you that as a 100% online university with over 20 years of online experience, NAU is well-positioned to provide uninterrupted education for our students.
NAU remains open and fully available to serve students
- NAU operates in a fully online environment. Approximately 95% of our staff and faculty work remotely. As a result, we are well-positioned to avoid any disruption to student support, course scheduling, or ongoing University operations.
- NAU also has over 300 online faculty members ready to teach you! Our experienced faculty population gives us an incredible amount of flexibility to ensure classes continue as scheduled.
While the coronavirus continues to present challenges for students and universities everywhere, we believe that NAU is well-positioned with our online program offerings and remote staff to keep your education on track. National American University CARES Act Student Emergency Financial Aid Grant Report
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act provides funds to National American University for emergency financial aid grants to students for cost of attendance expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus (such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care and child care).
National American University was allocated $1,453,446.00 under the CARES Act. On April 28, 2020, National American University signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement for Higher Education Emergency Relief Funding and intends to use no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
National American University was allocated $726,723.00 for emergency financial aid for eligible post-secondary students. The grants are intended to help students cover costs they have experienced as a result of the changes due to the pandemic. This funding will be allocated to eligible students through the review process outlined below.
An additional allocation of $726,723.00 is available to National American University to help address the significant financial costs as a result of the COVID-19 emergency.
Student Emergency Financial Aid Grants
It is estimated that 1885 students were enrolled in post-secondary education with National American University on March 13, 2020. Of these students, 54 students were identified as potentially eligible students. 45 students completed a FAFSA and demonstrated Title IV eligibility under Section 484 of the Higher Education Act of 1965.
Any student who met the requirements of Section 484 of the Higher Education Act received an email application to request assistance through the Student Emergency Financial Aid Grant ( CARES ACT Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds Student Application.docx ). National American University awarded each eligible applicant student $6195.00.
Total amount of CARES Emergency Financial Aid Grants disbursed as of June 19, 2020:

The funds were disbursed by electronic funds through Bank Mobile or by check if requested. Each student was notified of the award, pending disbursement and information on the funds (Congratulations CARES.docx).
