NAU Nursing Program in Austin, Texas
National American University is excited to announce the addition of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program at the Austin, TX campus. Continuing to provide quality programs that meet the needs of today’s workforce, the BSN program is a four-year, pre-licensure program that prepares students with the knowledge and skills necessary for the field of nursing—a field that is projected to grow by 26% in registered nurse opportunities by the year 2020[i].
The NAU School of Nursing received initial approval from the Texas Board of Nursing in mid-July allowing the Austin campus to begin offering nursing classes to students. The program focuses on providing nursing students with the skills and practices they need to provide quality patient care, offering specialized courses in leadership, healthcare delivery systems and community and public health nursing. In addition, NAU’s School of Nursing has qualified nursing instructors and program chairs with years of experience in nursing education, fundamentals, and training.
The Austin, TX nursing program also offers hands-on, practical skills in the new nursing lab, complete with nursing simulation models. Nursing simulation serves as an important tool in the development of practical skills for students allowing them to simulate real-life scenarios to prepare them for the workforce.
